SIA brings Google Pay into its mobile mix

Singapore Airlines (SIA) now allows passengers to save their mobile boarding passes on Google Pay’s digital wallet.

It claims to be the first APAC airline to offer this.

Customers using Android mobile devices will need to first generate their mobile boarding pass on the SingaporeAir app, but can then save it to the Google Pay wallet and present it to clear security and immigration and to board their aircraft.

SIA has worked with Google on a number of digital projects to improve passengers’ experience on the ground. They include features on Google Flight, Google Now and Google Home which allow customers to search for flight information, receive booking confirmations and set reminders for upcoming flights.

SIA  Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, Campbell Wilson, said:

“Our partnership with Google and the introduction of saving one’s mobile boarding pass to Google Pay is an example of SIA’s continued investment to broaden and enhance our digital capabilities. This ultimately demonstrates our commitment to constantly enhance the travel experience, making it even more seamless for our customers.”
