Travello, an Australian-based social networking app for travellers, has closed an A$5 million ($3.7 million) funding round, earmarking the cash for product, engineering, customer care and marketing.
The latest round comes on top of a A$1.4 million round in August 2016.
The Travello app is community-based with recommendations, but also allows users to book more than 50,00 activities. It claims more than 350,000 current users in 180 countries. Travello also owns Bluetee, which is a standalone SaaS platfrom which is a social and location-based marketing platform which allows suppliers to get their inventory in front of the Travello audience.
Bluetee also has a business line allowing travel companies to white label Travello and create a user group for clients. And there is TravScan, which a B2B tours and activities digital ticketing and redemption system.
The statement said that Bluetee would see upgrades and enhancements thanks to the funding.
Ryan Hanley, co-founder of Travello, explained:
“The idea behind our biz-tech solution is to help travel businesses reach travellers in-destination through customer touch-points that were previously unattainable due to the nomadic nature of travellers and for these businesses to use Travello as a social extension for their brands
“Unlike TripAdvisor, which started as a social platform but morphed into a marketplace, our community will always be at the heart of Travello.”
