Booking Holdings is buying hotel metasearch site, HotelsCombined, for an undisclosed sum.
HotelsCombined was formed in 2005 and has built up a strong presence in APAC from its headquarters in Sydney, Australia.
Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking Holdings, talked about the deal in terms of its worldwide metasearch strategy.
The strategy is built around Kayak. HotelsCombined will report in to Kayak, whose CEO Steve Hafner admitted he has been a long-time admirer of HotelsCombined and its ability to execute.
The deal has been given the all-clear by HotelsCombined’s board and stockholders, with completion expected by the end of the year.
Booking’s primary metasearch brands now cover North America (Kayak), Europe (Momondo and Cheapflights) and now APAC (HotelsCombined).
