Etihad completes NDC booking tool for improved shopping experience

Etihad Airways has completed the implementation of a new IATA NDC-compliant booking standard to improve the information flow between travel agents and the airline’s reservation systems.

The airline partnered with Sabre Airline Solutions and Sabre Travel Network to implement the new data exchange system which received a Level 1 certification from IATA.

Improved functionality includes an improve shopping experience with access to images of products, details of services and a view of seat maps directly from the carrier’s host reservation system, enabling agents to differentiate the product.

Justin Warby, the airline’s vice president digital transformation and innovation, says:

“In line with Etihad Airways’ strategy to offer consumers greater travel options, the NDC standard will enhance the airline’s ability to create further tailored offers and communicate our award-winning product benefits more effectively to customers to best meet their travel needs.

“Using a standard format is an important enhancement as we continue to invest in the latest technology and digital platforms to improve the overall booking experience.”
