Hotels.com gives travellers a full-service mobile app when in-destination

Hotels.com is teaming up with a myriad of companies to help power a new mobile app that it hopes will be everything a traveller needs once they arrive on a trip.
Ignoring the fact that many of its hotel partners will probably be trying to offer the same time of service, via a mobile or in-person, Hotels.com has created Concierge as part of its existing smartphone app.
Initially available only for iOS-powered devices, Concierge includes tools for arranging ground trnsporation, restaurant reservations, things to do, and takeaway deliveries.
The new app comes on the back of research by the Expedia Inc-owned brand that found restaurant reservations, directions and tourist attractions topped a list of items that travellers would most like to have on a mobile concierge platform.
The app was created in conjunction with mobile platform provider Button.
The ground transportation element is part of an integration with Uber and available globally, with Groupon providing deals for local attractions in the US and UK.
The takeaway option is handled by Delivery.com in the US and through HungryHouse in the UK.
Expedia rival Priceline Group‘s OpenTable powers the restaurant reservation service.
