FlitWays drives away with $1.2 million to expand ground transport booking

Airport transfer web service FlitWays has secured a $1.2 million funding round, in a bid to push the businesses into new markets.

A group of private investors have committed to the Series A capital-raise, following on from a $600,000 seed round following its launch.

The company was created by Tobi Mac in 2014 [TLabs here] and launched with a consumer-facing online booking platform that brings in inventory from a range of providers of taxis, rideshares, exec cars and shuttles.

It currently operates in 200 cities around the world.

The investment will be used to back its expansion plans in South America and Southeast Asia, a programme that is forecast to include 40 new cities.

Corporations using its enterprise platform include Xerox, TUI and Megabus.

The funding is split into two tranches of $700,000 and $500,000.
