Ryanair takes next retailer step, launches travel packages online

Ryanair‘s ambitions to become more than just a seller of flights has a new chapter: packages through a series of deals with third party providers.

Tour operator Logitravel and accommodation service World2Meet were named this week as the backbone behind the new Ryanair Holidays service.

The pair will initially create packages for Ryanair passengers in the UK, Ireland and Germany, with other markets to follow next year, Ryanair says.

The airline says the addition of the new Holidays service is another step “on our journey to becoming the Amazon of air travel”.

The packages will be built out from accommodation from the two providers and on flights around the Ryanair network.

These are being positioned as both packages (all ATOL-bonded and insured) for long-stay holidays and city breaks.

The move follows the relaunch of the airline’s accommodation-only service, Ryanair Rooms, which started up again in October this year through Expedia Inc-owned Hotels.com and Hotelopia, the consume-facing wing of Hotelbeds.

Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs says:

“Consumers have been paying too much for package holidays for years and more and more want to put their own packages together themselves.

“Ryanair customers already enjoy the biggest route network in Europe and with “Ryanair Holidays” can choose from a fantastic range of 3, 4 and 5 star hotels throughout the Mediterranean and Europe.”

Ryanair’s car rental service is powered by CarTrawler.
